The Woodcutter...

Linking to my last post, here is the man himself creating a log wedding guest book for our friends Dominique and Tom, similar to the one posted below.

Keeping a log...

One of the great things about being with a tree surgeon is that we are never short of logs!  I can't think of a better thing to have lying around when planning a rustic wedding (apart from a few thousand pounds perhaps)!

Also I know of some people who are hiring logs for their weddings.  Perhaps we are missing a trick?!

Here are some of my favourite uses that I have seen so far.  I'm hoping to steal a few of these ideas for the big day.

Love this beautiful centre piece.  So simple but so elegant. I would love to create something along these lines with +The Country Garden Florist Ltd and really do need to go and see them soon!

Love the logs along the edge of the aisle here, although this will depend on whether we hold the blessing ceremony inside or outside (which in itself depends very much on the weather).  We have also considered making a pathway to the tipi using logs and candles, but feel sorry for the poor bridesmaids who might well end up lighting them all!

I think the log cake stand is my favourite idea out of all of them and perfect for a simple sponge wedding cake.  Luckily our neighbour has offered to make our cake for us, but if not it might be up to my sister Emma to get the baking tins out, though she doesn't know it yet!

It's a sign...

I love these and think I might have to ask Fraser very nicely to make some!

Please do us a favour...

One thing that we have struggled to decide on is favours.  We would like something rustic and simple. Currently we are in the process of getting honey bees and were thinking we might fill little jars with the honey, but are still looking for possible ideas.  If you have any suggestions we would really love to hear them...

Meet the Bridesmaids...

Fraser and I are extremely lucky to have 3 gorgeous women who have agreed to be our bridesmaids next summer.

My Maid of Honour is my lifetime friend Katie.  I was lucky enough to be her bridesmaid several years back and can honestly say she was the most graceful and elegant bride I have ever seen.

Our other bridesmaids are my sisters, Sarah and Emma.  Both stunningly beautiful.

We went for +BHLDN Weddings dresses because they are just so elegant and felt the colours and styles they offered just fitted perfectly with our wedding.  This isn't the dress we went for in the end, but it was a very close second!

We are also hoping to have a flower girl, but we haven't asked her yet.  She is only little and it seemed unfair to ask her more than a year in advance!

The Whole Hog...

A lovely coincidence that I should get a confirmation email from Apple and Hog the day I start this blog.  Feel they are definitely worth a mention as customer service has been second to none so far.  Can't wait to work out the rest of the details with them.  Their food looks amazing! (Click here for their website)

Our plans so far...

It was almost a year ago today that Fraser and I got engaged during a weekend away in Brighton.  Ever since then, wedding planning has become a big part of my life.  It was clear from the off that neither our budget or style lent us to a wedding in a swanky hotel or grand castle.  Instead, we have opted for 'rustic charm' and will be hosting our wedding blessing and reception on our own land which Fraser has spent the last ten years developing into a forest.  We looked at hiring a marquee, but then we came across giant tipis and couldn't resist!  We're very excited to be hiring our tipis from Tipi and Kata (http://www.tipiandkata.co.uk/)

Our wedding planning so far has been laced with good luck.  I won a half price wedding dress at a wedding fayre that I attended, which led me to Shades of White in St Ives (http://www.shades-of-white.co.uk/), where I found the dress of my dreams.  Also, having fallen in love with some bridesmaid dresses from BHLDN, I couldn't believe my luck when my Maid of Honour told me she was going to Chicago for a work conference and that there was a store less than 2 miles from her hotel (one of five stores in the entire of the US).  Some people would argue that it was fate.  I am just crossing my fingers and hoping that the good luck continues!

When you are having a tipi wedding in the middle of a woodland it seems only fitting that it should be a rustic wedding breakfast.  We have gone for a hog roast and are hoping we might be able to find an ice cream cart for desert.  We have a special surprise in store for the evening food, but I won't give that away in case any prospective guests are reading!

There is still ages to go until the wedding.  The big day isn't until July 2016 so there is still loads to do. One of the things I am most looking forward to is planning the flowers.  I have been to plenty of wedding fayres, but for me no florist would fit our small rustic wedding better than  +The Country Garden Florist Ltd  (http://www.thecountrygardenflorist.co.uk/) who we are hoping to visit soon!

Apart from this, Fraser is particularly busy getting the site ready to host the wedding.  More info on that is on my other blog, Walker's Wood.
